Use half a pitch length but full width. Set up a central start are a (scrum) for the back row. Space five differently coloured cones up at various distances and depths from the scrum.
On your command, the back row aim to work together and track across to the nominated cone. The speed across the field should be fast by all players. They should aim to arrive as close together as possible.
The nearest player to the coloured cone called should be the first player there. He should go down on one knee to simulate the breakdown. The second player should take the far side of the breakdown. The last player should take the near side of the cone, closet to the last scrum.
You use 2-3 calls, immediately after the group arrives at the named cone. Change cone colour as they are running to simulate the ball changing direction or a break being made. Add a single attacker with a ball, or even two or three attackers. The coach shout “PLAY” and the attackers have to make a break inside, through or around the defence and score a try without losing the ball or a ruck/maul forming.

Ensure that all players communicate with the player(s) ahead of them to let them know they have their inside covered.
