Emphasise movement to find space to kick and to take the ball. This should develop players’ cross-kicking, chip-kicking and catching skills to score tries.
Kick to score – so players have to find the space to receive a kick, and the kicker has to find the player.
Mark out a 10m circle – adjust the size to suit your players.
Split into three teams, ideally of no more than four-a-side. One team acts as defenders – start them inside the circle. The attackers can run, pass and kick in any direction, and can run in and out of the circle. The attackers score by kicking to a player in the circle. The defenders can knock away the ball inside the circle. If they catch the ball, the game finishes. Outside the circle, the defenders can touch a player to end the game. Rotate the teams and, after six goes, see which defensive team has the least scores against them.
