Graham Purdy, an experienced rugby player, teacher and rugby coach at Langley Park Boys has put together a range of 15 minute #athome work outs, ideal for the garden.
PARTNER AND BALL WORKOUT
Develop your passing and improve your handling with another 15 minute workout. Grab a family member or friend, a couple of balls, and get ready to work. 45 seconds work, 15 seconds rest for all drills apart from the warm up. Simple progressions throughout should mean that they are easy to follow and will move your handling in the right direction.
INDIVIDUAL AND BALL HANDLING WORKOUT
A workout that take you through several practices that will improve your individual skills. This workout is designed on a 45:15 work to rest ratio and lasts a total of 15 minutes. No partner is required for this session, only a ball and a wall.
FORWARDS WORKOUT
If you’re a forward, this session is for you. With a number of specific practices to help your body position and core strength, your jumping and catching in the lineout, as well as your offloading in the contact, this video gives you the chance to improve some very simple, but essential skills. Once again, 45 seconds work, 15 seconds rest throughout. It actually only lasts 14 minutes if it’s just you working, if there’s 2 of you improving then it’ll take around 20.
SCRUM HALF PASSING WORKOUT
This is designed specifically for scrum halves to develop their break down passing power and accuracy.
This workout is designed on a 45sec work to 15 sec rest and involves 15 practices. You need a ball and a mate, or even just a target (though you end up going to get your ball a little too often in this instance!)
Although this is designed as a 15 minute workout, if I wanted to really improve, I wouldn’t be happy with a bad set, I’d stick on something I couldn’t do for a bit longer.
