Bounce and reload from the tackle

Help players understand how to roll away from the tackle and then get back into the game quickly
- Split players into pairs and make one of each pair an attacker and the other a defender. The defender kneels down on one knee – the knee opposite to the shoulder he will tackle with The attacker has a ball and starts 2m away.
- When you say “go”, the attacker runs at the defender, who makes a low tackle, driving off his foot and gripping hard.
- Once he has completed the low tackle, he rolls out and away, bouncing up on to his feet quickly.
- Add another attacker and defender 5m away who compete over the ball and help the tackler gain an added sense of how he can affect the tackle contest.
