Working through the questions
Let’s put this game through the purpose questions:
Question | Answer |
---|---|
What is the purpose of the game? | The PURPOSE of the game is to develop the technique and skill of passing. |
Can it be used for any other purpose? | The same game can also be used to work on defence and spatial awareness. |
What principles of play are involved? | Go forward and support which will also encourage continuity and pressure |
What skills are being used? | Pass, receive, tackle/tag/touch, evasion |
Is it appropriate for the group (age and capability)? | Yes as it will have simple rules and can be adapted to suit |
What will be my focus? | Go forward, support and pass (timing, delivery, receive) |
What rules/conditions can I use to make it easier/more challenging? | Increase/decrease number of tackles. Bonus point for passing FOR the receiver rather than TO. Additional touches (tackles) for running onto the pass. Fewer touches for lack of support. |
What prior learning will I expect to see? | Go forward, pass, receipt, support, evasion, tackle/tag |
What do I expect the end game to look like? | Dynamic go forward and support. More movement of the ball before the tackle is made. Press defence |
Okay, happy with that…
Let’s delve a bit deeper by going back a couple of steps to see how a game might fit into a larger plan. That’s in the next lesson.
