How to work towards the solution

Vince chats to Mason about Motley Crew’s strengths to help them find a game model solution.

	We’ve got some good wingers, so let’s pass the ball to them quickly.
	Okay, but are your inside players good passers both to the left and the right?
	Well possibly from right to left, so the left winger will be getting the ball a lot.
	How are we going to get the ball to the right winger then?
	Become more proficient at passing from left to right. But that’s not going to happen overnight.
	Let’s think about alternative solutions then.
	Okay, well we could kick pass it to the winger, or get that winger come off his wing more often.
	Pick which one of those is easiest to start with and we can work from there.

You could replicate these questions in your own team.

You can then coordinate your solutions.

In this case, rather than Vince and Mason discussing the solutions, Vince could easily speak to his own team. It needs an honest conversation, recognising each players’ own strengths and weaknesses.

But it also needs a shared language.
