VIDEO: Three drills to build a counter attacking tactic – Richard Hill

Use these three drills to build an attacking pattern to counter-attack from a kick to a winger. Note the running lines and how and when the ball is moved to create space. Finally, put this into game-related situations.

Good counter attacking principles

  1. Go forward if possible after the catch.
  2. Pass the ball infield.
  3. Call from the outside when the defence is read.
  4. Pass hard and flat to avoid losing ground.
