Rugby drill set up
You need three cones for this rugby warm-up drill. The thrower stands by the first cone, with the second cone six metres in field, the third 15 metres in field, indicating a full lineout.
1. The jumper jumps first from a standing position at the six metre cone, then from in between the six and 15 metre cones, then at the 15 metre cone. The ball is thrown for him to catch in the air with each jump.
2. The jumper starts by the six metre cone again. When the thrower pulls the ball back behind his head, the jumper walks backwards for a count of three seconds, stops and jumps. The thrower times the throw to hit the jumper.
3. Next, the jumper moves backwards from the six metre cone to the 15 metre cone, stops for three seconds and jumps.
4. Repeat the rugby drill with the jumper walking forwards for three seconds and jumping at the six metre cone, then running forwards to take a flat throw at the six metre cone.
