Develop the right feel for front row cohesion so they can adjust their feet and still retain a good posture even when they are moving.
Knowing body shapes, stresses and movements will increase scrum efficiency and safety.
Three differently coloured cones 2-3m apart.
Development
Do the same drill but now stipulate a different coloured cone. If “red” or “blue” is called, the group crabs across to that cone, so it is beneath the hooker’s heads and then they advance/retreat to step over it as before (see picture 3). Make the retreating scrum less co-operative but never have full competition.
Set up position on the knees. Use the correct binding.
Start position off the knees. Row A pushes forward.
On your command, the scrum crabs towards the colored cone you indicate.
