Attacking activities: Six of the best

Here are six of our most popular activities around attack.

It’s a mix of tactics, games and exercises to help your team break down defences and score more tries.

1. Escape with the egg

Teach your players the importance of avoiding the tackling while running in the right direction.

2. Touch cone warm-up

A quick game to set up, players using their evasive and passing skills to find space.

3. Passing race

Put your players under pressure to pass accurately, and then run onto passes in this game which builds up the skill levels.

4. Pod attack

Develop a simple attacking system where the ball carrier is well-supported when they get to the defensive line.

5. Run forward to score

Aimed at younger players, this fun exercise will encourage the ball carrier to attack the space in front of them.

6. Unders and overs (attacking angles)

Develop a better understanding of simple lines of running to attack the spaces between defenders.
