Start to upskill your tackling for next season
April is an ideal time to review and revise skills which you will doing again next season. In this newsletter we are going to concentrate on tackling.
For some players, this area has been part of their worst moments. It means that you need to find ways to encourage them to improve. Look at Tackling: the final piece of the jigsaw for ideas on how to approach this.
In terms of a review of the basics, then why not consider your progress from the start of season. For example, consider What are the new skills for U9s and then match them up against where you are at now. Use our suggested drills and activities as ways to challenge the players.
More confident or older players can look for better ways to develop their techniques. Try out our practice plan Torpedo drive for side-on tackles to explore different scenarios.
Finally, go back to basics with Tackling low. The exercise is a low impact method, great for revision.
