Expert lessons to keep it simple
IT STARTED WITH A KISS
Some of you will be aware of the acronym Keep it Simple, Stupid, but KISS is also a school in India which caters for over 25,000 boarders free of charge. Imagine that managing that?
The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences is where I cemented many of my thoughts around coaching through games. Due to the language barrier, numbers of players, pitch conditions and lack of understanding about a game they’d never seen before, it was important to keep the messages simple, the interventions few and brief, and the games relevant to the end purpose: To be able to play and compete in the festival.
Adopt the same strategy KISS with games. Let’s walk before we can run. So, for the moment we won’t be using or talking about multidirectional games, gamification or other scaffolding techniques.
Remember, experts start as novices too.
